Crap TV Flashbacks: Facts of Life

Now this show is one for the ages. A bunch of goofy girls at an all girsl school. At first it would seem that this is the ultimate in male fantasy. At first. Then when you are exposed to the likes of Mindy Cohn, you begin to scratch out your eyes in horror, and bang your head against your home furniture trying to knock yourself out.

You had the hot, uppity chick in Blair Warner, that fatso in Natalie Green, the cute braces wearing Tootie Ramsey, and the tomboy with the leather jacket in Jo Polniaczek. All had some appeal for young males obviously, except for tubby.

The Facts of Life is an American sitcom that originally ran on the NBC network from August 24, 1979 to September 13, 1988. A spin-off of the sitcom Diff’rent Strokes, the series’ original premise focused on the character, Edna Garrett (played by Charlotte Rae), as she becomes housemother (and later, dietitian as well) to seven young girls at the fictional Eastland School, a prestigious all-girls’ school in Peekskill, New York. The Pilot for the show originally aired as the last episode of Diff’rent Strokes first season and was called “The Girls’ School (aka Garrett’s Girls).”The Pilot for the show originally aired as the last episode of Diff’rent Strokes first season and was called “The Girls’ School (aka Garrett’s Girls).”

The show was obviously quite popular, but looking back it was clearly crap. The show even had now big time celebrity George Clooney (Video Below) appear on it as well as many others.

Weekly Deals and Why Pay a Ton for an .mp3 Player for an iName?

Once in a while I like to mention a couple of the stores I enjoy here simply because they need more recognition than most give them credit for. This time it is probably my favorite online store, Buy.com. You have probably seen some of their banners on my site before, but I feel that they need a post to really tell you how great of an online store it is.

Their prices are just as good as the other more well known electronics counter-parts online, and they even work in some much better deals than any of those do. Their Weekly Deals section has some of the best deals on the net. Many useful products that are so cheap you can’t pass them up.

One of the major features they have for these weekly deals tends to focus on portable media players, computer peripherals, and just great accessories for laptops, .p3 players, and computer hardware add ons.

Looking at the Weekly Deals this week I decided to focus a bit on .mp3 players. This is one thing in my life that I can’t live with out. I use my .mp3 player more than probably any other thing I own. When I first got my .mp3 player I went for the big iPod name and spent $400 for one. Although I get a lot of use out of it, I probably would never make the mistake again with everything else that is available from the .mp3 market. Why do I need to spend an extra $100-200 for what boils down to just a name? I wouldn’t do it again. I also didn’t even need all the disc space that I got with the one I bought either (60 GB). I don’t even use 1/10 of that space and the only reason I do is because I have it and I just keep a bunch of stuff I don’t even care for on it.

So now I see something like this 2 GB SanDisk Sansa m250 that works just as well, but costs virtually nothing in comparison. In fact this thing actually can use regular AAA batteries. It also has a ready made FM Tuner and and a built-in microphone for voice recording. Way more than my iPod does. the FM tuner alone is something I would have expected from the iPod, but no dice.

On Buy.com they have weekly deals for these all the time so these cheap .mp3 players are such a better bargain when they do what you want, and cost about 1/5 of what an iPod does. In this case they have that SanDisk player selling for only $24.99 with FREE shipping after a $30 rebate. A comparable iPod is going to cost over $100. This one actually retails for around $90, but Buy.com sells things a lot cheaper than most places so you would be getting a huge deal on this. Just look at the reviews for it on the site. Almost every single person gave it 5/5 stars because it is such a bargain.

Walk of No Shame Amp Commercail=Awesomeness Times 1 Million

Haven’t actually seen this commercial on TV for Amp Energy drinks, but I saw it on Youtube earlier and laughed my ass off. Literally. The Walk of No Shame is certainly going to be something many can relate to the drunken one night stand regrets. Those drinks aren’t too bad either as they are usually the best buy at my local gas station as they are always 2 for $3 or something unlike everything else that is $2.99 and tastes lack rat piss. (No I don’t really know what rat piss tastes like, but I can only imagine). Anyways this Walk of No Shame Amp commercial is surely one of the best ones I have seen in a long time. Enjoy.

Crap TV Flashbacks: Herman’s Head

Herman’s Head aired on Fox from 1991-1994. The premise of the show was actually pretty clever, but the show itself was rather stale after a season or two. The whole idea of the show was to take the personalities of the main character, Herman Brooks, and show them as other characters who played out the process in his head when he was making decisions. Herman went on his daily life, but when something was going on, they would cut to 4 other characters who represented sensitivity (Angel), lust (Animal), anxiety (Wimp), and intellect (Genius). The characters were either naive, gluttons forcing Herman to find some way to fatten himself up before the ability to get Phentermine 37.5 mg easily, a total wimp, and a guy that was a know it all.

Interestingly enough, the cast had a few people you may recognize. Hank Azaria has been in many places you have probably seen. Most notably you have seen his name plastered a crossed the credits of The Simpsons as one of the voice actors who does the voices of Moe Szyslak, Chief Wiggum, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon and numerous other characters. Jane Sibbett, you would recognize from the show Friends where she played Ross’ ex-wife.

DO NOT Quote the Original Post in a Topic!

Are you one of those morons that thinks they need to quote the original post of a topic all the time? Sit back and think about it for a second. People go into a topic because…well…they are interested in what the topic is about. Don’t you think that everyone else coming into the topic is going to pretty much know that the responses are related to the original post? Sure…topics get hijacked pretty often, but any idiot can understand if someone is replying to the topic if the thread, and not some stupid offshoot topic that arose in the thread. You CAN quote the off-topic BS people bring up and reply to that.

If the topic is about vinyl shutters, you can pretty much agree that responses about that subject are going to be easily identified do you not?

The WORST offenders of this are those that quote the original topic when it is an ARTICLE. A goddman article! Why would you quote an article? Seriously people. Think about what the bloody hell you are doing here. IF I clicked on the topic I already read the article unless I just replied with tl:dr, when I get to your worthless one line post. Yes, they quote a 1000 word article and then after you scroll all the way down through what you already read, you see a ONE LINE response. Idiots.
