Drugs are bad, mmmk?
If you haven’t noticed, drug users are pretty proud of themselves online. On more lenient boards, users will mention that they are high as often as they possibly can. It isn’t even uncommon for someone to start a thread asking how much a certain portion of drugs would cost them. This leads to the great debate about drugs and those who are against them.
Typically the conversation will start with a few stoners saying how great their drug of choice is. They will have a few laughs with fellow drug users about how great they are and how high they are too. This doesn’t last long however in a mixed community. It just can’t and the all knowing person that watched an after school special is going to chime in with a little:
“Drugs are bad, mmmk?”
sooner or later. This gets the ball rolling. Now everyone comes out of the woodwork to talk about drugs and how they like them, or how they think people who do them are losers.
Now if you aren’t familiar with the term, I should probably explain where it came from. There is a little cartoon on Comedy Central that is called South Park. One of the best shows of the last decade in my opinion. It is 4, foul mouthed kids who have some adventures in the town of South Park. Anyways, the boys’ principal, Mr. Mackey, always likes to say “mmmk?”. He has been known to say, “Drugs are bad, mmmk?” as well. So that’s where it came from.
The weed smoker will tell you that smoking weed is better for you than drinking alcohol which is illegal. They will give you all the reasons it should be illegal. To save time:
- Government can tax it.
- Weed makes you mellow so you don’t cause trouble
- Scientific evidence says it is less harmful to you than alcohol.
- It is used medically.
- Everyone does it already anyways
- It will reduce crime.
- Blah Blah Blah
I’m sure you can think of many more, but we’ll stop there.
After this debate begins the guys who have never smoked weed in their lives start to spew off all kinds of crap they heard from some teacher, or whatever and act as if they are experts on the subject. Remember, they have never tried marijuana. They just know what they have heard about it. Of course that is a government conspiracy. We all know that.
Anywho, it’s a lot like the Religious Debate. There are people that know what they are talking about and there are those who clearly do not. Those who do not make the conversation go forever and the whole thing just escalates. If you want to spur a debate, drugs, and Mary Jane specifically, is a sure fire way to piss some people off.
